If any of you see a post in your RSS feeds or readers containing an embarrassing time management pep talk & list, kindly disregard it! I have been boneheadedly using WordPress for my private journal; I should have realized that the day would come when Wp would publish a journal post on the wrong site. Isn’t that such a nightmare?! Good thing I didn’t write about, like, picking my nose or something.
But seriously: what privacy even exists online anymore? I have all sorts of sensitive information online — things like financial and health information, information much more personal than my desire to not waste time online and to read and write more — so what is truly protecting that info? So much of our selves rests in the netherworld of servers, constant iterations of our selves, and if you think you can backtrack and erase that information from the internet, think again. The internet is a hoarding monster, never willing to release what it has stashed into its dark, chaotic lair.
These aren’t new thoughts, but they explain why I haven’t been writing new posts. Do I really want to give more and more to the internet, which will repurpose that info and make it impossible to revoke? I don’t think that identity can be controlled, but when it comes to online life, even the tiniest tug of control becomes all the more tenuous. Not to mention that our info is being sold to major corporations, and that those same major corporations have the ability to whitewash their sullied names from the internet, and etc. etc. It freaks me out! The internet has such a terrifying ability to expose anyone or anything it so chooses. So I’m not sure I want to partake in much of it, at least for the time being.

PS My journal is now relocated to a Word document. PHEW.
